Calculating the power of a given number in Golang

Problem Solution:

In this program, we will read an integer number and its power and then calculate the power of the number and print the result on the console screen.

Program/Source Code:

The source code to calculate the power of a given number using the for loop is given below. The given program is compiled and executed successfully.

Golang code to calculate the power of a given number using the for loop

// GoLang program to calculate the power of a given number
// using the "for" loop.

package main

import "fmt"

func main() {
	var num int = 0
	var power int = 0
	var result int = 1

	fmt.Print("Enter Number: ")
	fmt.Scanf("%d", &num)

	fmt.Print("Enter Power: ")
	fmt.Scanf("%d", &power)

	for count := 1; count <= power; count++ {
		result = result * num
	}
	fmt.Printf("Result is: %d", result)
}

Output:

Enter Number: 4
Enter Power: 3
Result is: 64

Explanation:

In the above program, we declare the package main. The main package is used to tell the Go language compiler that the package must be compiled and produced the executable file. Here, we imported the fmt package that includes the files of package fmt then we can use a function related to the fmt package.

In the main() function, we created three variables num, power, result that are initialized with 0, 0, 1 respectively. After that, we used for loop to calculate the power of a given number. After that printed the result on the console screen.
