IBPS: Institute of Banking Personnel Selection

IBPS is an abbreviation of the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection. It is a self-governing recruitment organization which works towards the process of encouraging the recruitment and placement of youthful graduates in public sector banks in India, other than the State Bank of India and for that, it carries out online exams to recruit officers, clerks, and trainees in public sector banks in India. Its head office is situated in Mumbai, India.

IBPS Vision

Its vision is to build up and execute outstanding processes and systems for the evaluation, review, and selection of personnel in a reasonable approach for client organizations and carry out significant research and making the results public.

IBPS is administered by a board that comprises candidates from government organizations such as the Reserve Bank of India, Ministry of Finance Government of India, Indian Institute of Technology Mumbai, Indian Institute of Banking and Finance, National Institute of Bank Management, Indian Banks' Association and the public sector banks. Mr.Rajkiran Rai is the current Chairman and Shri Harideesh Kumar B is the current Managing Director of IBPS.

IBPS from time to time conducts online exams. It allows and acknowledges online exam applications at its website and exams are carried out at multiple places across the country.

IBPS Brief History

  • In 1975, it began its function as Personnel Selection Services (PSS).
  • In 1984, with the authorization of Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and public sector banks, it became an independent organization.
  • In 2011, it began carrying out the Common Written Examination (CWE) to employ candidates in public sector banks.

In the present time, CWE of IBPS is compulsory to get employment in the public sector or regional rural banks.
