SAP is an abbreviation of systems, applications, and products. SAP is a European leading multinational software company established in 1972. Its Head Office is situated in Walldorf, Baden-Württemberg, Germany with provincial offices in 180 countries. The company is particularly known for its ERP software that is developed and maintained by SAP.

As of 2016, SAP is the world's third-biggest leading software and programming company. The company works in Europe, Asia, Africa, the Middle East, North America, and South America.

SAP focuses on 25 industries. It provides incorporated products prepared for large enterprises, mid-sized companies, and small businesses. It is fundamentally a software dealer and provider.

  • In 1972, the journey of SAP began by five IBM Engineers named Dietmar Hopp, klaus Tschira, Hans Werner Hector, Hasso Plattner & Claus Wellenruther.
  • The German branch of Imperial Chemical Industries was the first client of SAP, where they build up a workstation program for payroll and accounting, and called its real-time system software.
  • The first commercial product of SAP was SAP R/98.
  • In 1993, SAP teams up with Microsoft.
