SSC: Staff Selection Commission

SSC is an abbreviation of the Staff Selection Commission. It is an Indian governmental organization that recruits staff for a variety of posts in the range of Ministries and Departments of the Government of India. The recruitment is also done for subordinate's offices. The commission of Staff Selection is headquartered at New Delhi in India which is headed by a chairman and two members are also there with a Secretary-cum-Controller of Examinations to help out the Chairman.

Additionally, the SSC has a regional arrangement to conduct exams efficiently. At this time, it has seven regional offices at Allahabad, Mumbai, Kolkata, Delhi, Chennai, Guwahati, Bangalore and two sub-regional offices at Raipur and Chandigarh.

Some of the most significant functions of SSC:

  • SSC conducts recruitment for the Group "B" posts in the Ministries/ Departments of the Govt. of India and their subordinate offices and all non-technical Group "C" posts in the Ministries or Departments of Govt. of India and their subordinate officers.
  • SSC conducts exams and interviews for the posts within its range of experience.
  • SSC conducts departmental exams associated with promotion from a lower division to upper divisions.
  • SSC conducts periodical typewriting tests in Hindi and English.
  • SSC executes other functions assigned to it by the Central Govt. periodically.

SSC is also an abbreviation of a Secondary School Certificate. The Secondary School Certificate examination is also known as SSC or 10th board or Matriculation examination is a public examination conducted by a variety of boards of education comprising CBSE and other state boards.
