Cascading Style Sheets
Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a style based language, which is used for expressing the arrangement, style and layout of a document in web pages written by using markup languages such as HTML, XHTML, plain XML, SVG, and XUL. CSS is a significant technology, which is the basis of World Wide Web, together with HTML and JavaScript, whose specifications are preserved by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).
Categories
CSS is classified into three categories, which are mentioned below in the following:
- Inline CSS
- Internal or Embedded CSS
- External CSS
Advantages of CSS
- CSS offers effortless continuation as in the process of simply changing the style, the entire elements in all the web pages get automatically reorganized and updated.
- In contrast to HTML, CSS has a much broader range of features, which supports giving a greatly enhanced look to HTML pages.
- In CSS, style sheets enable content to make the most effective use in various types of devices, which shows the compatibility of CSS.
- CSS helps in saving time by providing the reprocessing of a similar sheet used in it, in a variety of other HTML pages.
- In CSS, as it provides the reprocessing of similar sheet and the use of similar HTML tag attributes, each time when the page is loaded, it helps in loading the page faster because of less spending time in coding.
- At the present, HTML features and elements are being deplored and it is being suggested in all the HTML pages to make use of CSS to make them well-suited to upcoming browsers.
