What is an XML Sitemap?

An XML sitemap is a file that contains information about the pages, images, videos, and other files on your site, and the relationships between them. This XML sitemap file is very useful for the Search Engines like Google. Search Engines read this file to crawl your site more efficiently.

As per Google, a sitemap can contain up to 50,000 URLs and must not exceed 50MB uncompressed. Use a sitemap index file to list all the individual sitemaps and submit this single file to Google rather than submitting individual sitemaps.

  • Monthly: The pages which update once per month like category pages, FAQs, new course content pages, etc.
  • Yearly: The pages which update on an annual basis like the contact page, about page, registration page, etc.
  • Never: The pages which never get updated.
