COPPA: Children's Online Privacy Protection Act

COPPA is an abbreviation of the "Children's Online Privacy Protection Act". It is an act passed by the 105th United States Congress on October 21, 1998. The act came into effect on April 21, 2000. It was passed to restrict the internet-based collection and the use of personal information about children less than 13 years of age by the individuals or online organizations of internet-based services and websites.
