What is dial-on-demand routing?

Dial-on-demand routing is a process of routing in which by following a requirement, a connection of network is established in a distant location. In this type of routing, businesses and corporations get benefitted by establishing a permanent wide area network set of connections, in which they are fixed to pay according to per-minute charges of the service.

Working

The process of working of dial-on-demand routing is followed by setting up connection, which is basically classified into two sections, comprises:

• The physical connection:
  
  1. It includes the authentic cable that establishes the connection of computer systems over the network and also includes the network interface card that enables in favor of communication over the useful existing cables.
  2. In this connection, DDR makes use of the accessible Public Switched Telephone Network (PSTN) lines or the network connection of the entire public circuit-switched telephone networks, to establish a proper connection, linking the sender and the recipient.
• The digital connection:
  
  1. It includes the establishment of a digital-based signal, which have need to find out some protocols, going to be used over the digital connection.
  2. In this connection, DDR makes use of a Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) link, which operates by managing the entire functions of networking, comprises sending, receiving, and compressing the signals involving among two systems of the computer on the internet.
