IEEE History

  • In 1963, IEEE was established by the union of the two institutes, in which the first one is the Institute of Radio Engineers (IRE) and the second one is the American Institute of Electrical Engineers (AIEE).
  • In 1912, the Institute of Radio Engineers (IRE) was established and in 1884 AIEE was established. In the early days of foundation, it contained 150,000 members, in which 140,000 members were from the United States. At the present time, it contains 420000 members in 160 countries with 44.5 percent outside of the United States.
