PCS: Provincial Civil Service / Personal Communication Service

1) PCS: Provincial Civil Service

PCS is an abbreviation of the Provincial Civil Service. It is a civil service position at the state level. The working of its employees is under state Government and their transfer cannot be permitted to other states. In each state, there is its own public service commission which organizes many layers of examinations for the selection of employees. It is also called a state-level civil service.

2) PCS: Personal Communication Service

PCS is also an abbreviation of the Personal Communication Service. It is a set of wireless communication proficiencies that enables some amalgamation of terminal mobility and service profile management.

History of Personal Communication Service

The American company named "Sprint" was the first company that organized the PCS network. This PCS network was a GSM network in the Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan Area. Afterward, Sprint transformed that PCS network to CDMA technology and then it dealt with Omni point in which GSM infrastructure was bought by Omni point, which afterward becomes a division of T-Mobile USA.
