As indicated by The UNESCO, E-governance is a public sector's utilization of data and communication Technology’s with a specific goal to enhance data and service delivery, propelling occupant association in the decision making and making government more responsible, transparent and effective. E-governance includes new styles of service, novel approaches to choose strategy and better approaches for getting to training, and tuning in to citizens and better approaches for sorting out and conveying data and services. The intention is to give better access, responsibility and proficiency in the delivery of government schemes and plans.

Technology is at the core of the idea of transforming the way India perceives governance. While computerisation of government offices was the primary indication of progress that was found in the 90s, the e-Governance in India has relentlessly developed to be more citizen-centric.

The working process of government is through computer system like to share data/information amongst multiple departments/people through internet. The citizens can access information about government schemes, plans, check application status online etc. The government departments have their own web portal to recognize them as well as access relevant information.
