Problem Solution:

In this program, we will create a string and then we will convert the string into an array of characters using the chars() function.

Program/Source Code:

The source code to convert the string into an array of characters using the chars() function is given below. The given program is compiled and executed successfully.

# Ruby program to covert the string into array of
# characters using chars() function

str = "HELLO";
arr = str.chars();

i=0;

print "Array elements are: \n";

while(i<arr.length())
    print arr.at(i)," ";
    i = i + 1;
end

Output:

Array elements are:
H E L L O

Explanation:

In the above program, we created a string str initialized with "HELLO". Then we used the chars() function to convert the string into an array of characters and assigned the result to the arr variable. After that, we printed the array.
