BMW: Bayerische Motoren Werke

BMW is an abbreviation of "Bayerische Motoren Werke". It is a multinational automobile and motorcycle manufacturing company whose headquarter is situated in Munich, Germany. Under the BMW Motorrad division, BMW manufactures magnificence sports cars as well as motorcycles. The manufacturing company also has possession of the Mini and Rolls-Royce brands. The company is well-known for its tagline "Ultimate Driving Machines". The logo of the manufacturing company is designed to look a lot like an aircraft propeller. It is one of the most trusted and well-liked and accepted automobile manufacturers also with Mercedes-Benz and Audi from 2012.

BMW History

  • In 1916, BMW was established by Franz Josef Popp. The manufacturing of aircraft engines that were used by the German Air Force was begun first in the company.
  • In 1918, the company was strained to prevent the manufacturing of aircraft engines after the First World War, therefore, in 1923, it began manufacturing motorcycles.
  • In 1929, the first car created by BMW was named "Dixi".
  • In 1936, BMW manufactured 328 sports cars which nominated as the car of the century in 1999.
  • In the 1960s, the company manufactured BMW 1500, a four-cylinder sports car and BMW 2002, a two-door car which was the antecedent of the BMW 3 series.
  • In the 1970s, BMW introduced its 3, 5 and 7 series.
  • In the 1990s, it obtained the British Rover Group but it was not a cost-effective possession so BMW sold the Rover Group to Phoenix association.
  • In 1994, it established industry in Spartanburg, South Carolina particularly for the manufacturing of the BMW Z3 Roadster.
  • In 2000, it has decided to only pay attention exclusively on the BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce Motor Cars in the international automobile market.
  • In 2001, it introduced the new MINI, the finest quality car in the small-car section.
  • In 2013, it launched the electric i3, an urban electric car.

In the present day, BMW is recognized for the design and excellence of its cars and it is one of the most trusted, well-liked and accepted automobile manufacturers.
