1) DTP: Desk-Top Publishing
DTP is an abbreviation of Desktop Publishing. Desktop publishing is publishing software used to generate high standard printed layout materials and enables individuals, businesses, corporations, and organizations to self-publish a broad variety of content. The DTP software makes available for use better control over the design, quality text, and layout of a page comparable to the word processor, conventional topography and printing.

DTP can be divided into five categories,

- Graphics software

- Web publishing software
- Word processing application
Usage
- Page layout software is used to publish magazines, books, newspapers, comics, etc.
- Graphics software is used to generate web pages such as QuarkXPress, Adobe PageMaker, and Adobe Photoshop.

2) DTP: Distributed Transaction Processing
DTP is also an abbreviation of Distributed Transaction Processing. Distributed Transaction Processing is a method used to distribute and implement the functions of a database transaction over various collections of database transaction programs inside a network. In this database transaction processing, more than one network hosts are convoluted.
Advantages
- In DTP, Two transactions can independently direct a session and confer with each other.
- A user can remotely operate on distant resources and move data between systems.

Disadvantages
- In between the sites, many messages to be transacted to fulfill a distributed transaction that costs by DTP.
- Because of too many network resources may be used, data integrity begins to be complicated.
- In comparison to a centralized system, deadlock is strenuous to manage in DTP.
- The data transacted between sites over networks are unfortified to attack.
