FYG: For Your Guidance

FYG is an abbreviation of "For Your Guidance".

It is an expression, which is commonly used in the Gmail platform. It is also written as "Fyg". It is written at the beginning of the subject of the email when the sender wants to inform the recipient regarding some information that will help him/her. Mainly it is done in corporate emails where the management wants to provide the information to the individual regarding the new process they should trail.

Let us take an example to make it easy to understand.

In email Subject, if it is written:

FYG: User Manual Guide

This shows that the mail is for the future help for the recipient.

Now, these days, the demands of acronyms are very high on social media online chatting or messaging, so the users usually use FYG or Fyg as a replacement for For Your Guidance.

So, in this way, the abbreviation FYG or Fyg is used mostly in the social media platform.
While this slang is very common in social media platforms, mainly email messaging, still many are unaware of this slang.

So, basically in emails if it is written at the beginning of the subject of the email as FYG, it means that the information given in the mail is for the help of the recipient. So, whenever you want to send some important information that can help the other person, you can write at the beginning of the email, FYG, instead of For Your Guidance, which is little time consuming, and will also make your subject lengthy.
