UPSC: Union Public Service Commission

UPA is an abbreviation of United Production of America. It is an American animation studio, better known as UPA, active from the 1940s to 1970s. UPA produced theatrical shorts for Columbia pictures, television series for CBS, etc.

History

On 1, October 1926, UPSC was established. Its head office is situated at Dholpur House, Shah Jahan Road, New Delhi.

UPSC Functions

The responsibility of the Union Public Service Commission is to conduct examinations for appointments to the services of the Union, as per Art. 320. It shall also help and support two or more States, if demanded as a consequence, in outlining and operating plans of joint recruitment for any services.

The Union Public Service Commission shall be seeking advice:

  1. On all issues linking with
    • Methods of recruitment to civil services and for civil posts
    • Making appointments to civil services and posts
    • Making promotions and transfers from one service to another
    • The suitability of candidates for such appointments, promotions or transfers
  2. On all disciplinary and penalizing issues in opposition to a civil servant providing service in a civil facility, comprising memorials or petitions concerning such issues.
  3. On any assert by or in respect of a person who is giving service or has provided service in a civil facility, that any expenses acquired by him in defending legal proceedings set up against him in respect of acts done or claiming to be done in the execution of his responsibility should be paid out of the Consolidated Fund of India.
  4. On any assert for the award of a pension in respect of damages sustained by a person while providing service in a civil facility, and any question as to the amount of such award.

It shall be the responsibility of a Union Public Service Commission to counsel on any issue alluded to them; given that the President has not made any policies and systems denoting the issues in which it shall not be required for Union Public Service Commission to be seeking advice.
