Scala – Compare Strings (Using equalsIgnoreCase() Method)

Here, we will compare string variables using the equalsIgnoreCase() method. The equalsIgnoreCase() method compares two strings by ignoring the case and return a Boolean value.

The source code to compare strings using the equalsIgnoreCase() method is given below. The given program is compiled and executed on the ubuntu 18.04 operating system successfully.

Explanation

In the above program, we used an object-oriented approach to create the program. And, we created an object Sample. Here, we defined main() function. The main() function is the entry point for the program.

In the main() function, we created three string variables str1, str2, str3 that are initialized with "Hello", "hello", "hello" respectively. Then we compared strings using the eqaulsIgnoreCase() method by ignoring the string case. After that, we printed the appropriate message on the console screen.
