Scala – Getting Characters from a String

Here, we will create a string, and then we will get characters one by one using the getChar() method and print on the console screen.

Scala code to get characters from the string

The source code to get characters from the string is given below. The given program is compiled and executed on the ubuntu 18.04 operating system successfully.

// Scala program to get characters from string.

object Sample {
  def main(args: Array[String]) {
    var str = "Hello World";
    var ch: Char = 0;
    var i: Int = 0;

    println("String is: ");
    while (i < str.length) {
      ch = str.charAt(i);
      printf("%c ", ch);
      i = i + 1;
    }
    println();
  }
}

Output

String is:
H e l l o   W o r l d

Explanation

In the above program, we used an object-oriented approach to create the program. And, we created an object Sample. Here, we defined main() function. The main() function is the entry point for the program.

In the main() function, we created a string variable str initialized with "Hello World". Then we got the characters from the string one by one using charAt() and printed the result on the console screen.
