TLTR: Too Long To Read

TLTR is an abbreviation of "Too Long To Read".

It is an expression, which is commonly used in the Gmail platform. It is written in the subject or at the starting of the body of the email to tell the other person that the trail mail is too long to read and needs to be re-written in short. It is done when the email came from the other side contains a very long message and the recipient needs a short overview of the same or not able to read the whole message as he/she doesn't have much time so need the sender to make it shorter. If it is written in the email TLTR, it means that the email message is quite long and needed to be re-written in short.

Let us take an example to make it easy to understand.

In an email, if it is written:

TLTR, please make it shorter.

This shows that the email contains a message which is too long to read and requires the other person to make it shorter.

Now, these days, the demands of acronyms are very high on social media online chatting or messaging, so the users usually use TLTR as a replacement for Too Long To Read.

So, in this way, the abbreviation TLTR is used mostly on the social media platform.

While this slang is very common in social media platforms, mainly email messaging, still many are unaware of this slang.

So, basically in emails if you want to inform the other person that the trail mail is too long to read and needed to be re-written in short, you can simply write TLTR instead of writing Too Long To Read. Writing TLTR seems professional, provides strong communication, with fewer efforts and good time management.
