  • floatValue() method is used to return the value denoted by this Integer object converted to type float (by casting).
  • floatValue() method is a non-static method, it is accessible with the class object only and if we try to access the method with the class name then we will get an error.
  • floatValue() method does not throw an exception at the time of conversion from Integer to float.

Syntax

public float floatValue();

Parameters

  • It does not accept any parameter.

Return Value

The return type of this method is float, it returns a converted (from type Integer to float) value represented by this Integer object.

Example

// Java program to demonstrate the example
// of floatValue() method of Integer class

public class FloatValueOfIntegerClass {
    public static void main(String[] args) {
        // Variables initialization
        int i1 = 30;
        int i2 = 40;;

        // It returns an integer value denoted by this Integer ob1 object
        // and converted to a float by calling ob1.floatValue()
        Integer ob1 = new Integer(i1);

        // Display ob1 result
        System.out.println("ob1.floatValue(): " + ob1.floatValue());

        // It returns an integer value denoted by this Integer ob2 object
        // and converted to a float by calling ob2.floatValue()
        Integer ob2 = new Integer(i2);

        // Display ob2 result
        System.out.println("ob2.floatValue(): " + ob2.floatValue());
    }
}

Output

ob1.floatValue(): 30.0
ob2.floatValue(): 40.0
