Scala – Insert a Substring from a String

Here, we will create a string using the StringBuffer class and then we will use the insert() method to insert the substring into a string based on a specified index.

Scala code to insert a substring into string created using StringBuffer

The source code to insert a substring into a string created using StringBuffer is given below. The given program is compiled and executed on the ubuntu 18.04 operating system successfully.

// Scala program to insert a substring
// into StringBuffer string

object Sample {
  def main(args: Array[String]) {
    val str = new StringBuffer("This india");

    printf("String is: '%s'\n", str);

    //insert a substring into string.
    str.insert(4, " is");

    printf("String is: '%s'\n", str);
  }
}

Output

String is: 'This india'
String is: 'This is india'

Explanation

In the above program, we used an object-oriented approach to create the program. And, we created an object Sample. Here, we defined main() function. The main() function is the entry point for the program.

In the main() function, we created an immutable string str using the StringBuffer class. Then we inserted substring " is" from string using insert() method into string str and printed the result on the console screen.
