Scala program to perform ceiling operation on given number using scala.math.ceil() function

Here, we are going to learn how to perform ceiling operation on given number using scala.math.ceil() function in Scala programming language?

scala.math.ceil() Function Example

Here, we will read a double number from the user and perform a ceiling operation on a given number using scala.math.ceil() function and print the result on the console screen.

Ceiling operation: Using ceiling operation, we can round 0ff the value of a double number.

Scala code to perform ceiling operation on given number

The source code to perform ceiling operation on a given number is given below. The given program is compiled and executed on the ubuntu 18.04 operating system successfully.

// Scala program to perform ceiling operation using
// scala.math.ceil() function

object Sample{
    def main(args:Array[String]){
        var num:Double    = 0;
        var res:Double = 0;

        print("Enter number: ")
        num=scala.io.StdIn.readDouble()

        res= scala.math.ceil(num)
        println("Number after ceiling: "+res);
    }
}

Output

Enter number: 3.64
Number after ceiling: 4.0

Explanation

In the above program, we used an object-oriented approach to create the program. Here, we created an object Sample. We defined main() function. The main() function is the entry point for the program.

In the main() function, we created two variables num, res that are initialized with 0. Then we read the value of the num variable from the user and then we performed ceiling operation on a given number using scala.math.ceil() function and printed the result on the console screen.
