Scala – Delete a Substring from StringBuilder String

Here, we will create a string using the StringBuilder class and then we will delete a substring from the string using the delete() method. And, we need to pass the start and end index to delete the substring from the string.

Scala code to delete a substring from StringBuilder string

The source code to delete a substring from the StringBuilder string is given below. The given program is compiled and executed on the ubuntu 18.04 operating system successfully.

// Scala program to delete characters
// from StringBuilder string

object Sample {
  def main(args: Array[String]) {
    val str = new StringBuilder("Hello World");

    printf("String is: %s\n", str);

    //delete a substring from of string.
    str.delete(2, 4);

    printf("String is: %s\n", str);
  }
}

Output

String is: Hello World
String is: Heo World

Explanation

In the above program, we used an object-oriented approach to create the program. And, we created an object Sample. Here, we defined main() function. The main() function is the entry point for the program.

In the main() function, we created an immutable string str using the StringBuilder class, which is initialized with "Hello World". Then we deleted a substring from a string based on the start and end index in the delete() method. After that, we printed the result on the console screen.
