Last Updated : December 15, 2025

Problem Solution

In this program, we will create a string and then remove the last character from the string using the chomp() function.

Program/Source Code

The source code to remove the last specified character from the string is given below. The given program is compiled and executed successfully.

# Ruby program to remove the last specified
# character from string

str = "hello how are you?";

str = str.chomp('?');

print str;

Output

hello how are you

Explanation

In the above program, we created a string str initialized with "hello how are you?". Then we removed the "?" character from the string str. After that, we printed the updated string.
