Creating a function in Scala

Here, we will define a simple function with no argument and no return value. And, we will print a simple message on the console screen.

Scala code to create a simple function

The source code to create a simple function is given below. The given program is compiled and executed on the ubuntu 18.04 operating system successfully.

// Scala program to create a simple function

object Sample {
  def main(args: Array[String]) {
    // Function calling
    simpleFun()
  }

  // Function definition
  def simpleFun() {
    println("Message from simpleFun()")
  }
}

Output

Message from simpleFun()

Explanation

In the above program, we used an object-oriented approach to create the program. We created an object Sample, and we defined main() function. The main() function is the entry point for the program.

In the main() function, we called simpleFun() function and print "Message from simpleFun()" message on the console screen.
