Scala – The yield Keyword in For Loop

Here, we will use the yield keyword in the for loop to assign the values in an output variable and print the result on the console screen.

Scala code to demonstrate the example of yield keyword in the for loop

The source code to demonstrate the yield keyword in the for loop is given below. The given program is compiled and executed on the ubuntu 18.04 operating system successfully.

// Scala program to demonstrate the
// "yield" keyword in "for" loop

object Sample {
    def main(args: Array[String]): Unit = {
        var output = for( cnt <- 1 to 5) yield cnt
        println(output)
    }
}

Output

Vector(1, 2, 3, 4, 5)

Explanation

In the above program, we used an object-oriented approach to create the program. We created an object Sample. We defined main() function. The main() function is the entry point for the program.

In the main() function, we used the yield keyword to assign all values from 1 to 5 into the output variable. After that, we printed the values of the result variable on the console screen.
