Converting a 64-bit integer number into a 32-bit integer number in Golang

Problem Solution:

In this program, we will convert a 64-bit integer number into a 32-bit integer number using the int32() function and print the result on the console screen.

Program/Source Code:

The source code to convert a 64-bit integer number into a 32-bit integer number is given below. The given program is compiled and executed successfully.

Golang code to convert a 64-bit integer number into a 32-bit integer number

// Golang program to convert a 64-bit integer
// number into a 32-Bit integer number

package main

import "fmt"

func main() {
	var intNum64 int64 = 256
	var intNum32 int32 = 0

	intNum32 = int32(intNum64)
	fmt.Println("32-Bit integer number: ", intNum32)
}

Output:

32-Bit integer number:  256

Explanation:

In the above program, we declare the package main. The main package is used to tell the Go language compiler that the package must be compiled and produced the executable file. Here, we imported the fmt package that includes the files of package fmt then we can use a function related to the fmt package.

In the main() function, we two variables intNum64, intNum32 that are initialized with 256, 0 respectively. After that we converted intNum64 variable into  32-bit integer number and assigned to intNum32 variable using int32() function and print the result on the console screen.
