How to create a temp directory in the '/tmp' directory in Golang?

Problem Solution:

In this program, we will create a temp directory in the system "/tmp" directory. After that, we will print the name of created temp directory on the console screen.

Program/Source Code:

The source code to create a temp directory in the "/tmp" directory is given below. The given program is compiled and executed on the ubuntu 18.04 operating system successfully.

Golang code to create a temp directory in the '/tmp' directory

// Golang program to create a temp directory
// in the "/tmp" directory

package main

import "io/ioutil"
import "fmt"

func main() {
	tempDirLoc, err := ioutil.TempDir("", "DirName")
	if err != nil {
		fmt.Println(err)
	} else {
		fmt.Printf("Created temp directory is (%s)\n", tempDirLoc)
	}
}

Output:

Created temp directory is (/tmp/DirName740391865)

Explanation:

In the above program, we declare the package main. The main package is used to tell the Go language compiler that the package must be compiled and produced the executable file. Here, we imported the fmt package that includes the files of package fmt then we can use a function related to the fmt package.

Here, we also imported the io/ioutil package to use TempDir() function.

In the main() function, we created a temp directory in "/tmp" system folder using ioutil.TempDir() function. After that, we printed the created temp directory name on the console screen.
