Golang program to encode a structure using json.Marshal() function

Here, we are going to learn how to encode a structure using json.Marshal() function in Golang (Go Language)?
Submitted by Nidhi, on April 16, 2021

Problem Solution:

In this program, we will encode the structure of students using json.Marshal() function and then print the result on the console screen.

Program/Source Code:

The source code to encode a structure using json.Marshal() function is given below. The given program is compiled and executed on the ubuntu 18.04 operating system successfully.

// Golang program to encode a structure
// using json.Marshal() function

package main

import "fmt"
import "encoding/json"

type Students struct {
	RollNo []int
	Names  []string
}

func main() {
	//Create an object of Students structure.
	stu := &Students{
		RollNo: []int{101, 102, 103},
		Names:  []string{"Ravi", "Kavi", "Mavi"}}

	result, _ := json.Marshal(stu)
	fmt.Println(string(result))
}

Output:

{"RollNo":[101,102,103],"Names":["Ravi","Kavi","Mavi"]}

Explanation:

In the above program, we declare the package main. The main package is used to tell the Go language compiler that the package must be compiled and produced the executable file. Here, we imported the fmt, encoding/json packages then we can use a function related to the fmt and encoding/json package.

In the main() function, we used json.Marshal() function to encode structure of students. After that, we printed the encoded values using string() function on the console screen.
