How to print the floating-point value in scientific notation in Golang?

Problem Solution:

In this program, we will read a float value from the user and then print its value in scientific notation using the "%e" and "%E" format specifier on the console screen.

Program/Source Code:

The source code to print the floating-point value in scientific notation in Printf() function is given below. The given program is compiled and executed on the ubuntu 18.04 operating system successfully.

Golang code to print the floating-point value in scientific notation

// Golang program to print the floating-point
// value in scientific notation

package main

import "fmt"

func main() {

	var num float64 = 0

	fmt.Printf("Enter number: ")
	fmt.Scanf("%f", &num)

	fmt.Printf("Float Value: %f\n", num)
	fmt.Printf("Scientific notation : %e\n", num)
	fmt.Printf("Scientific notation : %E\n", num)
}

Output:

Enter number: 14.567
Float Value: 14.567000
Scientific notation : 1.456700e+01
Scientific notation : 1.456700E+01

Explanation:

In the above program, we declare the package main. The main package is used to tell the Go language compiler that the package must be compiled and produced the executable file. Here, we imported the fmt package then we can use a function related to the fmt

In the main() function, we created a variable num with initial value 0. Then we read the value of the variable from the user. After that, we printed the scientific notation of the specified number on the console screen using "%f", "%e", "%E" format specifiers.
