Golang program to read data from the file using buffer reader Read() function

Here, we are going to learn how to read data from the file using buffer reader Read() function in Golang (Go Language)?

Reading data from the file in Golang

Problem Solution:

In this program, we will open a file and create the buffer-reader using file pointer and then read data from the file using Read() function and print data on the console screen.

Program/Source Code:

The source code to read data from the file using the buffer-reader Read() function is given below. The given program is compiled and executed on the ubuntu 18.04 operating system successfully.

Golang code to read data from the file using buffer reader Read() function

// Golang program to read data from the file
// using buffer reader Read() function

package main

import "fmt"
import "os"
import "bufio"

func main() {
	filePtr, err := os.Open("Demo.txt")
	if err != nil {
		fmt.Println(err)
	}

	bufferedReader := bufio.NewReader(filePtr)

	data := make([]byte, 12)
	len, err := bufferedReader.Read(data)
	if err != nil {
		fmt.Println(err)
	}
	fmt.Printf("Data Len: %d\n", len)
	fmt.Printf("Data    : %s\n", data)

	filePtr.Close()
}

Output:

Data Len: 12
Data    : Hello World

Explanation:

In the above program, we declare the package main. The main package is used to tell the Go language compiler that the package must be compiled and produced the executable file. Here, we imported the fmt, os packages then we can use a function related to the fmt and os package.

Here, we also imported the bufio package to use buffer writer to write data into a file.

In the main() function, we opened the "Demo.txt" file and then create a buffer-reader using NewReader() function and read data from the file using Read() function, and print the data on the console screen.
