Checking given number is positive or negative in Golang

In this program, we will read an integer number from the user and check the given number is POSITIVE or NEGATIVE.

Golang code to check given number is positive or negative

The source code to check given number is positive or negative is given below. The given program is compiled and executed successfully.

// Golang program to check given number is
// positive or negative.

package main
import "fmt"

func main() {
    var num int=0

    fmt.Printf("Enter number: ")
    fmt.Scanf("%d",&num)

    if(num>=0){
        fmt.Printf("Number is POSITIVE")
    }else{
        fmt.Printf("Number is NEGATIVE")
    }
}

Output

Enter number: -20
Number is NEGATIVE

Explanation

In the above program, we declare the package main. The main package is used to tell the Go language compiler that the package must be compiled and produced the executable file. Here, we imported the fmt package that includes the files of package fmt then we can use a function related to the fmt package.

Here, we created the main() function. The main() function is the entry point for the program. In the main() function, we created the variable num, which is initialized with 0. Then we read the value from the user. After that, we checked the given number is greater than or equal to 0 then the number will be POSITIVE otherwise the number will be NEGATIVE.
