Checking the specified file is a directory or not in Golang

Problem Solution:

In this program, we will check the specified file is a directory or not and print the appropriate message on the console screen.

Program/Source Code:

The source code to check the specified file is a directory or not is given below. The given program is compiled and executed successfully.

Golang code to heck the specified file is a directory or not

// Golang program to check the specified file
// is a directory or not

package main

import "os"
import "fmt"

func main() {
	MyFile1, err := os.Stat("Sample.txt")
	if err != nil {
		fmt.Println("File does not exist")
	}

	if MyFile1.IsDir() == true {
		fmt.Println("Sample.txt is a directory")
	} else {
		fmt.Println("Sample.txt is not a directory")
	}

	MyFile2, err := os.Stat("program")
	if err != nil {
		fmt.Println("File does not exist")
	}

	if MyFile2.IsDir() == true {
		fmt.Println("program is a directory")
	} else {
		fmt.Println("program is not a directory")
	}
}

Output:

Sample.txt is not a directory
program is a directory

Explanation:

In the above program, we declare the package main. The main package is used to tell the Go language compiler that the package must be compiled and produced the executable file. Here, we imported the fmt, os packages then we can use a function related to the fmt and os package.

In the main() function, we get the file pointer MyFile using os.State() for the existing file and then we get the last modified time of the existing file using the IsDir() function. The IsDir() function returns the Boolean value. Then we printed the appropriate message on the console screen.
