How to find the capacity of a slice in Golang?

Problem Solution:

In this program, we will create a slice from an array of strings and find the capacity of the slice using the cap() function.

Program/Source Code:

The source code to find the capacity of a slice is given below. The given program is compiled and executed successfully.

Golang code to find the capacity of a slice

// Golang program to find the capacity of a slice

package main

import "fmt"

func main() {
	//Create an string array
	arr := []string{"Hello ", "How ", "are ", "you"}

	//create slice of from index 1 till index 2(3-1).
	Slice := arr[1:3]

	fmt.Println("Slice: ", Slice)
	fmt.Println("Capacity of slice: ", cap(Slice))
}

Output:

Slice:  [How  are ]
Capacity of slice:  3

Explanation:

In the above program, we declare the package main. The main package is used to tell the Go language compiler that the package must be compiled and produced the executable file. Here, we imported the fmt package that includes the files of package fmt then we can use a function related to the fmt package.

In the main() function, we created an array of strings. Then we created a slice from index 1 to 2.  After that, we calculated the capacity of the slice. In our program, the capacity of a slice is 3, which means, a slice can store a maximum of 3 elements in it.
