Scala – Trim a String

Here, we will create a string and then we will trim a string using the trim() method and print the result on the console screen.

Scala code to trim a string

The source code to trim a string is given below. The given program is compiled and executed on the ubuntu 18.04 operating system successfully.

// Scala program to trim a string

object Sample {
  def main(args: Array[String]) {
    var str: String = " Hello World ";

    var res = str.trim();

    printf("Trimmed string: '%s'\n", res);
  }
}

Output

Trimmed string: 'Hello World'

Explanation

In the above program, we used an object-oriented approach to create the program. And, we created an object Sample. Here, we defined main() function. The main() function is the entry point for the program.

In the main() function, we created a string variable str initialized with " Hello World ". Then we trimmed the string str using the trim() method and assigned the result into the res variable. After that, we printed the result on the console screen.
