Regular Expression Function FindStringSubmatchIndex() in Golang

Problem Solution:

In this program, we will find substring matched based on the specified pattern within the string and print the start and last index of matched substrings and their sub-matched value on the console screen.

Program/Source Code:

The source code to demonstrate the regular expression function FindStringSubmatchIndex() is given below. The given program is compiled and executed on the ubuntu 18.04 operating system successfully.

Golang code to demonstrate the example of regular expression function FindStringSubmatchIndex()

// Golang program to demonstrate the
// regular expression function FindStringSubmatchIndex()

package main

import "fmt"
import "regexp"

func main() {
	result, _ := regexp.Compile("L([A-Z]+)N")

	fmt.Println(result.FindStringSubmatchIndex("LAN Network"))
	fmt.Println(result.FindStringSubmatchIndex("The king of forest is LION"))
	fmt.Println(result.FindStringSubmatchIndex("lan network"))
}

Output:

[0 3 1 2]
[22 26 23 25]
[]

Explanation:

In the above program, we declare the package main. The main package is used to tell the Go language compiler that the package must be compiled and produced the executable file. Here, we imported the fmt, regexp packages then we can use a function related to the fmt and regexp package.

In the main() function, we found substring matched based on the specified pattern within the string using FindStringSubmatchIndex() function. The FindStringSubmatchIndex() function returns the start and ends index of the substring pattern and its sub-matched value within the string and prints the result on the console screen.
