Checking a string contains a specified substring in Golang

Problem Solution:

In this program, we will check a specified sub-string contains in a given string using strings.Contains() function.

Program/Source Code:

The source code to check a string contains a specified substring is given below. The given program is compiled and executed successfully.

Golang code to check a string contains a specified substring

// Golang program to check a string contains a
// specified substring

package main

import "fmt"
import "strings"

func main() {
	var str string = "Hello World"
	var subStr string = "Wor"

	if strings.Contains(str, subStr) == true {
		fmt.Printf("String (%s) contains sub-string (%s)", str, subStr)
	} else {
		fmt.Printf("String (%s) does not contains substring (%s)", str, subStr)
	}
}

Output:

String (Hello World) contains sub-string (Wor)

Explanation:

In the above program, we declare the package main. The main package is used to tell the Go language compiler that the package must be compiled and produced the executable file. Here, we imported the fmt package that includes the files of package fmt then we can use a function related to the fmt package.

In the main() function, we created two string variables str and subStr, which are initialized with "Hello World" and "Wor" respectively.

if(strings.Contains(str, subStr)==true){
    fmt.Printf("String (%s) contains sub-string (%s)",str,subStr)
}else{
    fmt.Printf("String (%s) does not contains substring (%s)",str,subStr)
}

In the above code, we checked the specified substring subStr in the string and print the appropriate message on the console screen.
