End-user Computing

In this article of MIS, we will get enhance our knowledge about the end-user computing, what is end-user, what is end-user computing?
Submitted by IncludeHelp, on March 23, 2021

End-users are the user for which specific software, hardware, application program, or utility developed. After the successful development of the device or application, it sets at the user's end and training provides to the users for their use so that users can use the developed device as per their need.

Hence, this article will let you know about the end-users are, what kinds of applications do they use, and how well are these applications incorporated into the organization's overall systems architecture, etc. The description of end-user computing has described below,

End-user

As its name implies, the term End User refers to the user who is using readymade software's, hardware's, devices, or applications Unlike qualified professionals who can build a system from basic facts and uses their expertise's to create an expected application or system, many end-user computing implementations start with existing database applications or software. The end-users are not programming experts.

Following executives are considered as End-users,

  • Office executives,
  • Support staff,
  • Management experts,
  • Data processing professionals
  • End-user support personnel etc.

The end-user computing process can recognize and express system flaws, the potential for using computing resources, and most important is to address the organizational needs.

End-user computing

End-user computing refers to how users can uses and asses the developed software, application, or devices and data from anywhere at any time using various available application platforms. To provide safe access for End User Computing, most companies use virtual desktop infrastructure. End-User computing seeks to incorporate these users and their devices into the computing world as easily as possible. Usage of Mobility is an example of End User Computing strategy.

Servers for the virtualization applications, flash storage for the desktop images, and network storage for the files, networking, make up an efficient End User Computing/VDI infrastructure.

End-user computing generally provides the tools that IT professionals use to provide access to the resources. Today’s consumers evolved and have demand access to increasingly rich data, photos, video, and sound, while some of the most extreme users need high-precision interaction with images. Many organizations have a range of users, ranging from task-oriented to 3D graphical image users.

An organization's willingness to evolve and adapt to these new criteria determines it. To achieve the necessary level of desktop versatility, agility, and mobility, new cloud-optimized infrastructures that can be scaled on-demand using simple, automated processes and tools are frequently needed.

Managing end-user computing

To manage the end-users, there are some fundamental activates used these activities are commonly referred to as below -

  1. Coordination:
It is important to make an informative system and keep the users' viewpoints at the forefront of design growth, so everybody understands and adheres to the organization's policies and practices. To execute, hardware, software, as well as the networks associated with end computing, resources must be handled carefully, but also personal and manually controlled.
  2. Support:
A support end-user is a necessary activity that involves providing required tools that users with everything they need to create, run, and keep up to date, as well as assistance to enable them to do the administration
Additionally, problems and device selection of an application growth include finding their place in the larger scheme of the system and ensuring that all the processes are marked properly, and correcting them during promoting the organization's ability to find needed resources.
Developing an End User Computing System should be effective in providing information timely and resources available, and facilitating to maintain error resolution are some of the important key aspects.
  3. Evaluation:
An evaluation provides managers with all they need to deal with the controlling system, system restriction, restrictive management, and an effective and efficient process for End Users.
